This thread is for Allison Hyun-Lin's Boxers, Session 1.
After the most interesting of the elections, how will Robbie function as the youngest leader? How will Theo respond to his loss?
P.s. Nadya is "sick" and thus declared unfit to partake in the activity.

"Welcome to the Combat Abilities and Tactics Trainer, or CATT for short. This will be one of the best tools for you guys to use in order to become a stronger and more cohesive team. It will generate not only images, but sensations. Don't be afraid, but don't take CATT lightly either. Just do your best, and I'm sure you all will be fine!" the unusually chipper voice of Zen rang out over the speakers. She seemed....giddy, which was highly unlike her.
The room faded to black, but soon returned, only far different than it had originally been. In the place of the metal square walls were lush trees, a lively forest. It had the high humidity of the rain forest rather than the North American ones the kids were might likely used to. The kids were near enough to see each other, but they were obscured by branches, leaves, and trunks.
However, what they soon could see were sets of brazen warriors, wearing camo and war paint. None were armed with guns, but they were each musclebound, sweating, and fierce, and armed with a machete. Surely, they were all dangerous and cunning soldiers. Defeating them would not be easy.

Theo was disappointed to not but leader. The idea was starting to become more and more appealing to him, seeing himself as someone all of his teammates looked up to and respected, even some of the other students. He could be special. And once again, what Raines had said to him about the possibilities of his powers crept forward into his mind, allowing him to dare to dream of something better than just having fun.
Yet, just as the concept of himself as a leader grew, it was snatched away by Robbie, the most unlikely of suspects. Theo had voted for him himself, which he partly regretted, but he still thought Robbie had earned the respect he had garnered. He had his doubts though. The kid had no confidence in himself - how could he lead and inspire his team?
Despite Robbie's leadership, Theo thought that perhaps this team would function more on communication and teamwork than anything else.
As they were lead into the depths of the school, and into CATT, Theo could only stare in awe and amazement. "A superhero training center!" was all he could think, his eyes darting around, despite there being virtually nothing on the walls.
When it all started, it seemed so sudden, and Zen's voice was so excited, that it was a bit unnerving. What were they getting themselves into? Moments later, they were in a dense forest, and Theo could see the soldiers creeping up on him. Despite having just been told it was fake, it felt and looked so real that Theo quickly almost forgot that those were not real men who would not really kill him. He looked for his teammates, trying valiantly not to panic, hoping someone would make a first move - hopefully Captain Micro.
"Uh....Micro?" he asked nervously, "Incoming."

Robbie had barely enough time to register that they were in the depth of the Core's base when the scenery changed, bronzed men charging through the dense foliage of the humid jungle they seemed to have been transported too. Robbie took a step back, the sounds of crunching branches, the smell of the muggy morning humidity, this was way too real! Robbie looked at his three comrades, he had been chosen to be leader but he knew that by no means was he better than they were, Nadya was missing; her powers would have been a lot of help. 'Think Robbie, think! Um, they look like indians... man my clothes are so sticky, it's hard to... wait, humid.... like in South America! Maybe their Inca, if it was that long ago they're probably...' Robbie's eyes seemed to sparkle as he set up a plan in his head, a diversion really, the gears of his mind turning with each conclusion. He wasn't as powerful or strong or fast but Robbie was one of the smarter kids his age. "Affect, when I give the signal can you find some way to make them nervous? Paranoid? I don't need you to effect the whole group, just the two in front." He looked at Theo who nodded before turning to Yun and Twitch "Twitch, when I give the signal I want you to yell as crazy as you can, like, like, a real metal scream. Crescendo (boy, did he feel silly using code-names!) when he does that I want you to amplify his voice, make it as loud as you can without damaging anyone else's ears." If they were in the past, more than likely a bit of noise and some fearful leaders would be enough to raise superstitions and send the horde running back to their villages. Theo was pleased, and even a little proud, to see Robbie already growing into his leader, though not nearly as much as the beaming Zen, from her watchtower-esque position above them, although she was invisible to their eyes.
Theo took a deep breath, and began to focus. He didn't get why to make them nervous, when he could just use fear as he had before, but he focused on a nervous state that would them worried about what lay behind each and every tree, that would make them easy to fool. His eyes narrowed as he targeted it at them.

Yun's eyes shifted from Robbie to Twitch. Controlling her powers to direct the amplified the sound at the enemy was easy enough, but was Twitch reliable enough? That quiet boy who could barely get out a sentence. Nonetheless, she stood by and waited for Twitch to make his move, but she was unaware of the enemy behind her. She saw the looming shadow in front of her and gasped, whirling around to see one of the bulky men standing directly behind her.
"Aaahhh!" she shrieked and threw her arms above her head to protect herself when he tackled her to the ground. She coughed, feeling the air shoot out of her as the simulation hit. That definitely felt very real. She was already sore from being hit and didn't have time to get up when another slammed on top of her, greatly pressuring her ribcage.
Yun panicked when she could barely breathe beneath the soldier. Taking in what little air she had, she unleashed an ear-shattering scream to disable the enemy and those around her. The vibrations waved over their bodies and caused some of them to stagger back as she tried with all her strength to push off the body. She panted heavily and gaped for oxygen, placing a hand on her nearly crushed chest.

Immediately, the plan collapsed. It was obvious this team had little experience, and that Theo had little discipline.
"Crescendo!" he yelled, surprisingly using her codename. He had actually studied them, thinking everyone else would use them, and thus it was the first thing to come to mind. He turned to try and aid her, but was thrown off balance by her eardrum shattering scream, which left his with his hands over his ears and staggering.
Meanwhile, his change of focus caused the effect of his abilities to wear off the other warriors with decent speed. While they still seemed a little shaken up, they lacked the paranoia that had taken control of their violent eyes when Affect was focusing on them.
Affect tried to make his way to Crescendo to see if she was alright, but his balance was off, and he was stumbling. It made him an easy target for an enemy who give him a swift kick to the side, knocking him over with a somewhat fearful grunt. He turned to see the man standing over him, preparing to stomp on him. He immediately reacted by sending a wave of joy over the man. However, that didn't stop him. It just made him stomp with joy instead, and Affect brought his arms up to try and block the blow, helpless beneath him, and panicking.

Yun backed away and regulated her breathing, keeping in mind to be aware of her surroundings this time. Even though her ability was sound related, she didn't have the echolocation that Twitch had. She would have to enhance the volume of everything around her to detect the enemy more easily. Last time she shrieked out of self-defense and didn't pay attention to the people around her, causing Theo to become disoriented. She'd have to be more careful next time.

Robbie, without thinking of any of the consequences, launched himself warrior who was constantly stomping Theo to a pulp. Wrapping his arms around his neck he hung of the Indian as he continued stomping until, finally, Using his weight, Robbie was able to tip the warrior of balance. Shrinking as he stepped onto the falling man's shoulders before regrowing as he kicked off his chest, sending the man into the dirt as Robbie landed with a thud on his back.

Theo scrambled backwards, his arms and legs flailing towards the ground to propel in reverse and up to his feet.
"T-t-t-thanks Micro!" he stammered, appreciatively, but a bit of an emotional wreck. It was obvious the costly mistake bugged him, and the pain he felt was very real. His forearms and chest hurt from the stomping. Still, he felt a little inspired by the courageous attack of Robbie, who was proving to be every bit the captain they had chosen him as.
With that inspiration in mind, Affect focused fear into the man Robbie had just clobbered. Fear was quickly becoming Affect's most potent weapon, and he was already learning to control it more effectively. He shoved it into the man's mental functioning, and it was crippling to him. He lay on the ground, curling into the fetal position and literally cowering in fear. Affect felt a certain satisfaction, but he also felt approach of another warrior. He wheeled around, and found him himself sweeping away a bunch from him, using the blocking skills he had been taught by Claremont. He managed to deflect another blow, and was close to smiling when the warrior kicked him in the stomach, knocking him backwards. However, Affect had found his way into the fight, and he grinned.
"C'mon Boxers! Let's show em what we can do!" he encouraged cheesily.

Yun had much trouble dealing with her own batch of enemies in comparison, but it was mostly because screaming hurt her throat and she disliked doing it often. She did however have another tactic in mind; it was much more lethal but it took far more concentration on her part. Not only did she have to focus on the distinct frequency she would give off, but she also had to mind her teammates. If she attacked them they would be in for a serious amount of cerebral pain and damage.
Her mouth opened just enough for her to emit a sound so high pitched and sharp that it was almost as if no noise came out at all. The dangerous vibrations entered the eardrums of the soldiers, and in nearly as soon as she gave off the pitch, they dropped to the ground unmoving. She held her throat and winced, stepping back several paces to keep herself on balance afterwards.

Robbie found himself wedged between several warriors, their jagged blades and clubs ready to strike. Clumsily he tried his best to dodge their attacks, avoiding blows not through careful movement but by shrinking slightly to continually stay out of reach, their clubs moving in their same trajectory to strike their own comrade on the other side of the mutant. He allowed himself a small smile as they hesitantly stepped away from him, clutching various bleeding wounds they had earned from one an other, Robbie's size changes had happened so fast that it was as if their weapons had merely gone through him as if he was a...
"Inti!" one of them pointed at Robbie with a shaking spirit, stepping away as he dropped his club.
'Inti?' Robbie repeated in his head... Oh! The ancient Inca Deity of the sun! With his bright clothes and their in ability to strike him down, they had mistaken him as a spirit. His brain giving another snap he quickly took off his goggles and used their lenses to reflect the suns' rays at the warriors, stepping forward he watched as they took a step back. Taking a large leap he sent the four surrounding them into a nervous scatter, as they ran, stumbling over each other away from the small boy.

Theo blocked another attack, and took a swing of his own. He whiffed, but the feeling of actually striking back was satisfying. The warrior, however, began backing away, seeing his comrades fleeing from Robbie.
"I got your back, Micro!" he yelled as his own opponent tried to decide whether or not to make a run for it. He began to press fear towards them in a wave. It would have a weaker impact, but larger area of effect, and Affect was planning on using that ability to its best advantage. A couple more warriors joined their comrades in retreating. But how long could their bluff last? Would the training end if their opponents ran away? Theo didn't know, but he knew this was at least a step in the right direction.

Twitch was in a corner getting kicked in the stomach from the warriors. The sounds were too fast and far in between, he couldn't get a good sight on anyone and he had never been trained to fight with his senses.
"Ju...just...li...like at...sch...school." He cried, rolled up in a ball getting kicks to his ribs.

While Theo was helping Robbie, Twitch was getting the stuffing beat out of him. It didn't help that the noises around him were chaotic and confusing, but Yun had her own problems. She fended off a few fighters by keeping up the frequency of her voice, which was so finely tuned (but oddly loud) that her teammates' ears couldn't comprehend or feel it. "Listen to my voice!" she called over to Twitch, trying to guide him along. It wouldn't be good if he ended up as a hindrance to the team.

Seeing Twitch being beaten caused some doubt in Robbie's godliness. Could such a powerful entity fail to protect its minions? Theo's powers seemed to be losing an impact as the men moved further away and he became more fatigued.
They came back with a vengeance, going after the group with a renewed ferocity. While Micro managed to dodge many blows with his shrinking, they overpowered Theo, had him done on the ground. Yun was also able to keep them away with some earsplitting antics, but she couldn't protect herself and Twitch.
It wasn't long before, in excruciating pain, Theo and Twitch wanted it to end, and they were rewarded with a blaring announcement of failure.
In the Control Room, Zen frowned. She had not anticipated her team to struggle. They were sluggish and inactive, not aggressive, settling for cheap tricks. They would have to learn to play the game with a little more gusto, it seemed.
She dismissed them from the evening, hiding her disappointment and instead being encouraging and positive, particularly to Robbie, telling him he lost a tough one, and his tactics were smart and well thought out.
