Ace had watched the new kid go up to Chloe's group and talk to them. At least he wasn't all googly eyed and drooling over them. Ace pulled out his phone to check the time. It was getting closer to 10 and Ace wanted to get fucked up.

"We're in friggin high school, not church camp." He responded angrily after hearing the announcement in his head.

Jumping on his skateboard he skated to where they had to go. He wondered if Chloe and her group were going out on the town tonight. Last year they were the one's that through the parties and they were a blast to get drunk with. Taking out his phone he scrolled down to Chloe's number and began writing her a text:

Welcoming party tonight? I can get some shit if needed.

"Another announcement? Couldn't they have covered this earlier?" Calvin asked as he followed the others to the courtyard. "This activity sounds interesting though. Hopefully it'll actually be something fun."

"What's up with that Mark guy anyway?" He asked Drake, since he seemed to know him the best. "He seemed rather confident earlier. His power have something to do with it?"

"He can manipulate people by touching them..." Drake said smirking. "He likes to cheat people out of their money by doing so, I'm guessing the reason he sat down at Chloe's table was to get a better look at his odds of scamming them." He shook his head. "I'm just a bit reluctant to have him as a roommate now that I think about it..."

Jennifer, Vera and Nik cackled as Mark ran off. Before they could bask in their pretentiousness, the next announcement came, to everyone's dismay.

"Damn, can we breath? I'd just like to breath, please. Just tell us tomorrow, damn," Nik hissed as she got up, not bothering to clean off her tray.

"Seriously," Vera added in as her and Jennifer got up and started towards the field.

Chloe waited a few moments before getting up herself and trailing after them. By the time they reached the courtyard, they realized that Chloe was gone. They glanced around in panic that they were now only a trio and began to skulk the quads. Chloe, however, lay hidden on one of the highest branches an oak tree right over the stage. She inhaled deeply, catching the scents of all the students. She wiggled her nose at some of the more pungent ones but was able to register them all quickly. It was like drawing an ever changing map, she'd be able to track them all at any time she wanted, a very useful skill.

She then picked up the scents of Theo and psycho boy, who despite popping into her life a lot in the past hour, had yet to introduce himself to her. She moved out of their sight, perchance they would glance in the oak tree, and rolled onto her back, staring at the sun and lazily nodding off.

Yun followed the crowd to the courtyard, feeling somewhat exasperated. What did the school want now? She tried to see past the heads that were there, but in doing so she failed to pay attention to the people who were near her. She absentmindedly bumped into one of the girls (Jennifer). "Sorry." she muttered. Though due to her naturally quiet voice, the apology was barely audible that it seemed as if she had not apologized at all.

Raines waited until everybody had left the cafeteria and started inspecting. Maybe he'd find some left over skin from a guy who could turn into a snake, or maybe some residue from person who could manipulate fire.

"You're hesistant?" Theo stated, pointing a thumb at his own chest, "I'm rooming with Ace. I think it'll be fun, cause I like girls and partying, too...but...I dunno, I think he's gonna get us in trouble or something."

He briefly bit his bottom lip as he envisioned himself locked in a barebones room that was like a cell, only no bars. That one professor, Professor Crenshaw, was standing with Professor Stylianos, one with a drill and the other with a blowtorch. He shuddered briefly.

"Great. So I guess he thinks he can get anything he wants because he can control their minds? I could have some fun with him and his own power later if he gets annoying I guess." Calvin replied. "I still don't even know who I'm rooming with. If you want, I guess we could room with each other and let our roommates room with each other." He offered.

Drake smirked "I might just take you up on that." he said laughing. "So you can copy powers right?" he leaned in to examine Calvin.

She hadn't been meaning to eavesdrop on them, Chloe had just been enjoying the warmth of the sun on her face and had drifted into that purgatory state between awake and asleep. The boy's excitement about the year also comforted her, it was nice to listen to people who actually wanted to be productive for once.

Whenever Chloe had tried to bring up training to any of her friends, they'd practically hiss and run in the other direction.

Buzz! Buzz! Buzz!

Chloe squeaked and jumped up when she felt the vibration of her phone against her thigh. She sat up and sighed, the jig was up already?!

She quickly checked her text messages, of course the bulk of them coming from the gang inquiring her whereabouts. When she came across Ace's, she shook her head and chuckled. Ace+Party=cops very quickly. She teasingly typed back:

"Hey!!" Jennifer cried out and then whipped around to see the culprit. She looked the girl up and down before putting her hands on her hips and snapping, "Watch where you're going, idiot!"

"Yeah, watch it!" Vera chimed and Nik just gave the girl a warning look before scanning the crowd once again for their missing friend.

The group of students herded themselves into the courtyard but were surprised to see that their group was small, only about twenty or so kids had walked onto the soft, emerald turf. As expected, the kids not seeing anyone climb up on the pedestal in front of them, began to chatter away like parrots, their voices filling the courtyard as they tried to talk over each other.

*Kzzzzzzzzap!* a noise sounded off as a flash filled the room with a loud pop, Professor Samson walking up from behind them, his finger sizzled with sparks as smoke rose in a small gray stream.

"Alright ladies and Gentleman some of you might not know me, some of you you do and some..." he looked over in Ace's direction "I've had to deal with several times.". He looked over all the faces and let out a charming smile at them, a bit of nostalgia flooding over him. "Now I know you all are aware that New Haven is place for you to continue your classes without any persecution from those who may not understand what you are. However you are still a mutant and as such you it's important for you all to know that being a mutant is nothing to be ashamed off." his eyes swept over a pouting young boy, the same one Firehawk had looked at earlier in his speech.

"Your gifts, your powers, are apart of you, as much of a talent as a penchant for match, or art, or sports. You should be as comfortable with them as you are your name and as such we're are going to take this time and let you show off and give your peers a demonstration of your powers." he smiled again as he saw their eyes light up. Poor kids had probably never been able to use their powers in the outside world, always holding back...

"When you come up, speak your name, explain your power and then show it. Before I forget though, if anyone gets out of hand I want you all to know that I'm more than capable of protecting myself. Although I'm sure it won't have to come to that, right? Now then, who wants to go first?"

As soon as he heard the words "show your powers" Raines ran outside faster then a bullet. He hid in the back, awaiting to see everybody's special abilities.

Yun's eyes swept to the side as she raised her eyebrows and murmured a "rawr" as an imitation of a moody and hissing Jennifer cat. She turned her attention to the man making the announcement and groaned a little. They had to show their powers now? As a somewhat private person, Yun was hesitant to do so, but if it was a requirement... But if Yun could get away from the pack of she-wolves for a moment, things would be nice and peachy.

"I'll do it..." Drake shouted walking up towards the front. He loved to show people his powers and loved to see other people's powers.

Ace watched Sammy give his little speech, his eyes reading over the text he got back. He smirked, it meant he would be going into town after all.

Alright, invite whoever you want. I got a new kid I'm bringing.

Chloe glanced at the text and typed back an acknowledgment before silently crawling down the tree and scooted around to the front just as Psycho boy made his way past her and to the front. She kept cool gaze on him as he made his way to the stage. Guessing from his curious personality, he had to be an emopath or maybe super strength.

Jennifer may have fell silent out of respect for the demonstration period, but she kept a steady gaze on the chick who bumped her. It wasn't over, yet.

Theo was definitely excited by this prospect. He wanted to see what everyone could do, what they had. There would be no secrets. If someone could read your mind, you'd know, or if someone could turn into gelatin, he'd be able to mock them. But then again...

Well, Theo had good control of his powers. Subconsciously, he had been practicing for years. He had some emotions down very well, but others he'd rarely or never used. In addition, he wasn't sure how well he could do it on command. But perhaps that's why he was here...

He threw a glance over at Yun, a little curious about her since her run in with Jennifer. He looked at Jennifer, curious as to what her powers were. He noticed the daggers shooting from her eyes at the timid asian girl who had bumped her. "What a terror. I'll have to ask Ace about her later..." he thought. Where was her quiet companion?

Ace looked with a bored look, this wasn't the time for this shit! They were wasting valuable party time!

I'm going to get the shit, if they call my name say I went to the nurse because I got sick. He texted, sneaking through the group and making sure no teachers saw him. Slipping out of the school he skated off, shooting ice out in front of him to make him go faster. He would be back before it even got to his turn.

Drake stepped up to the front. "Hey everyone I'm Drake. Can I get an assistant please?" He shouted. A freshman stepped up and said he was ready. Drake smirked and sent his shadow over to the freshman's. The freshman gave a look of terror like he couldn't move. Drake smiled and made poses causing the freshman to do the same. "WHAT'S GOING ON!?" the freshman shouted. Drake retracted his shadow and the freshman ran away screaming. "That's not all." Drake said lauging. His shadow then lifted off the ground and formed into a clone of him. "This is my Shadow Puppet, the name is self expanitory." he then bowed as the group applauded. As he made his way back to where his new friends were standing he passed by Chloe. "Hey.." he said winking at her as he passed. He took his place next to Calvin. "What'd you think?" he asked.

Nodding and taking note of Drake's power, he was interested to know it's limitations. Could it get somebody in the air? What about when there was a bigger shadow covering it? Could you break the hold?

Raines kept nodding to himself, waiting for someone else to stand up.

"Very nice." Calvin replied before getting up himself. "But, let's see how well I can handle a professor's power." He said, jumping up to the front himself and quickly getting there before any other volunteers had a chance. He popped a couple more Aspirin before he started, he'd probably need them after this.

"Hello. My name is Calvin Peters, and I'm a power mimic." He said. He then took a glance at the professor running the meeting. "I noticed from your entrance you can control electricity, correct?" He asked, before turning back to the audience. He held up his hand as electricity began to spark through it, running around his hand, and eventually up and down his entire arm. Calvin smiled in delight, he always enjoyed seeing the reactions people gave when he replicated their own power or the power of someone they knew.

His smile faded though as he felt himself lose control a bit. Sparks burst out towards the audience as the force knocked Calvin back a few feet. "I'm ok...." He shouted weakly as he got up. No doubt some people in the first row were pissed at nearly being electrocuted. He took a polite bow as he went off-stage and back to his seat.

It took Ace about twenty minutes to skate to town, making sure to stop the ice trail out of distance of others seeing. He had done this all last year so he knew where no one looked. The door chimed as it opened the Indian smirking.

"Very good day sir." He greeted, in a heavy accent.

"Yo." The skater responded walking over to the beer section.

Grabbing five twelve packs of beers such as coors light, budweiser, etc, a thing of vodka, and a twelve pack of Smirnoffs (spelled it wrong, sue me) he paid the man and showed his fake i.d. Like usual he looked at him and the idea a few times but finally let the young kid buy -more so because he needed the business- and leave without a problem. Fast forward fifteen minutes and he was back at school, with the liquids in Chloe's room.

Alright the stuff's in your room. I got busted last time so we'll have to have the parties in your room for a while. He texted, pleased he didn't' get caught.

"Going somewhere, Mr. Spade?" quirked a smooth voice, "Its so early, and we're doing this allllllready."

Allison Hyun-Lin, or Zen, was waiting for him. She grinned, with all the smug charm of the cat catching the mouse.
