Chloe slightly smirked despite herself when psycho boy winked at her. There was something quickly cut her eyes back at her iphone-yeah that's right, I said it, iphone bitches-when it vibrated. She groaned at the thought of having to hold the party in her room and quickly typed back:
But I'm not rooming with Jennifer! I got some chick named Yun, do you know a Yun??
She then glanced up, making sure the teachers didn't notice her. Texting definitely wasn't allowed during any orientation.

Ace had finally made it back to the orientation and it seemed he hadn't been seen by anyone else, which was good. Glancing down at his phone he contemplated what to write. He couldn't have it in his room, he would get caught for sure. So the only logical thing would be to not party for a bit.
Oh well, party is still on.

Noticing nobody new was standing up, Raines decided to warm the kettle a bit. Moving to the front, he waved at everybody, moving his head left to right. It really wasn't that many people.
"My name is Roger. Roger Raines. My super power is..." In an instant, the total of his skin became a silver-line gray, a portion of it sparkling against the sun. For the smart people, they could recognize it to be a mineral, and not a metallic... weird for his type of power.
"My power turns me into a walking tank, increasing my durability, stamina and strength. That's it." Without more of a speech, he walked off, sitting against the far wall. He'd hope that somebody else would stand up and show him there power because of what he did, but it was slim.

"God, everyone does such cool sh-" Theo said whistfully ashe stepped forward, but realizing his faux pas, he cut himself off, "S-stuff. Stuff. Well, as most of you know by now, I'm Theo, 17, Libra, like dogs, favorite candy is Snickers..."
He flashed a smile and paused.
"But my power, you ask? I'm an emotopath. I can change peoples emotions." He indicated Jennifer as his forced volunteer. A few seconds passed and it seemed like nothing was happening, until she started smiling. Wider. She laughed lightly, devoid of the evil cackling it seemed most perceived her laughter as.
Having completed his demonstration. Theo tucked his lips into his mouth in an awkward reverse pucker. He felt so underwhelming compared to everyone else as he stepped back into the group.

Raines' eyes widened at that he imagined Theo could do. As a leader, he wouldn't need words... he could suggest courage to a coward; he could suggest humility to somebody with an over-inflated ego; he could repair relationships in an instant; turn people into life-long war buddies, make introverts extroverts...
overloaded with excitement, he ran up to Theo and stuck out his hand to shake. He didn't say anything at all, thinking that it wasn't necessary since they both knew each other's names.

Mark took the stage a few moments later. He still would like to remain vague in his power description, "I'm Mark Clover of the Las Vegas Clovers, and I can stun people for a little bit of time," He flexed a few times and pretended to be extremely focused. He then poked the professor, "Stop," He whispered underneath his breath. The professor became all rigid, and Mark decided to have a little fun. He pretended to attack the stunned professor with a few kung fu moves and then bowed.
Mark bounded off the stage. He didn't want everyone to know the extent of his mind control. He joined Drake, "Impressive, eh?"

Nadya stood up, walked to the front, bowed, and began her introduction.
"Hello, my name is Nadya Starosta. I came to America from the now former Czechoslovakian nation when I was 9. You can tell by my accent, can't you?" She said, giggling a bit to herself. Just as she said, the girl had a heavy accent, which either some people found incomprehensible or just plain annoying. However, some liked it.
"As I'm about to show you, my power is gravity manipulation." With that, she effortlessly gave a jump, hitting a height of about 20 feet in the air before descending down rather slowly. When she hit the ground, she brushed herself off, bowed again, and walked back to Avery, sitting down next to her.

Theo hadn't expected such a warm reaction from anyone, which was considering he usually expected everyone to love his charms. But when Raines came to him, somewhat wideeyed in his excitement, Theo couldn't help but smile with embarrassment. "So dude, you turn into metal?" he asked, pointing to the lines of mineral on Raines face, "I wish my power was that cool. I hope I never have to go up against you, man." |

"One day... you could become a strong leader, Theo Tagger." He said, having a great respect for the boy just based upon his power. "I look forward to a day where I can be lead by somebody like you." He said, a weird demeanor radiating from his body.
And then, it disappeared when he chuckled, scratching his head. "I'm nothing special. It's not even metal, it's a organic mineral. It would crumble under someone with super strength, those guys can crush diamonds! I'm about as tough as Silicon carbide at my very best."

"As hard as wha?" he asked, a look of confusion gracing his playful face. He looked a bit like a dog does when you're playing fetch, and you motion a throw, but hide the toy behind your back.
"I don't know about all that stuff, man. Sounds pretty hard, I'm not sure I'm built for that. Besides, what am I gonna do to the bad guys, make em feel embarrassed?"

Better have some tough teammates, then, like you!" he said, giving him a playful pop on the arm, before continuing "So that guys roommate said he could manipulate people, but he said he could stun people. Weird." Just as Theo had been unable to think of the implications of his powers, he was able to make the connections in Marks decision making

Drake ran up to Theo and hugged him , "Man, I had no idea your power was that cool buddy!" he said smiling. "It would be such an awesome combo to have you on my team man! And you too!" he said to Raines. "We haven't met, I'm Drake Shadows.." he said holding his hand out for a shake. "You're power is pretty rad too man, you're a tank!" Drake loved to see other's powers, it always took his mind off of being angry and made him happy.

Theo couldn't help but laugh. Day one, and already the friendships were forming. He thought back to when he been brought to NHA earlier, before he was officially attending, in an attempt to convince he and his family it was the right place for him.
"The bonds he forms here will be so helpful during this tough adjustment period. We know how hard this is, for everyone, but especially for him. Friends going through the same thing will really help not only ease his pain, but accelerate his growth."
Theo didn't exactly remember it word for word, but he got the gist. He looked over at Drake and then Raines, cracking his characteristically big grin.
"I mean, they're alright. I think they just seem cool to you guys cause you haven't seen 'em before," he said, blushing a little bit, "what about you?! You can take over people's bodies AND make clones! That's two powers in one! We would make a pretty sick team."

Robbie slowly made his way on stage next. Even with out activating his power he felt small, and to those on the field he was, his tiny frame barely taking up any space.
"Uh, H-hi." he said into the mic, the 'hi' coming off extremely loud as he bumped into the mic and causing it to wobble, he reached out clumsily to grab it and quickly brought it into himself as almost the entire group burst into giggles. His face red as a beet the boy continued "I'm Robbie, Robbie Palmer and I..." he paused and exhaled a shaky breath. His power compared to everyone else's was lame but he, in what he now knew must have been nothing short of stupidity, had no other choice than to show his power to them. In an instant he seemed to vanish from the crowds view and at once they 'oohed' and awed as they looked around trying to see where, what they thought to be a teleporter, had gone off too. It wasn't until Professor Samson stood on the pedestal, bending down to pick up something small, maybe only a few inches of height and held it out to the microphone. The audience was silence as the small outline in their teacher's hand spoke.
"Shrink." there was another second of silence and then the group roared in laughter and even as Samson put the tiny mutant down there were still some stray giggles.
"That's enough. Next." Samson said, his voice stern and without need for a microphone, as he watched Robbie, still tiny, walk into the crowd. 'Poor kid.'

Drake felt sorry for Robbie. He stood up on a chair, "YEAH ROBBIE!!! EXCELLENT POWER!!!" he shouted. Nobody should've laughed at that, shrink can come in so much handy it wasn't even funny! "THEY'RE JUST JEALOUS OF YA MAN!"

Raines nodded with both of them, watching Robbie walk up, show his power, get laughed at and walk away. He sighed. For some reason, his body willed him to walk over, bend down, and stick out his finger.
He was asking for a high five-or high body in Robbie's case, his face fixed into a warm smile.

"I mean, shrinking could make you awesome for stealth, but when you act like such a spaz, people are just gonna laugh!" Theo tried to explain to Raines and Drake as he followed them towards Robbie. He harbored no ill will, and in fact, inwardly felt kind of bad for him, but it was just in Theo's nature to poke fun at others and Robbie...well, he was an easy target.

Robbie to the finger and climbed on top of Raines' hand, making his way up his sleeve and onto his shoulder were he could watch the rest of the powers without being pointed out as the kid who shrinks. He heard Theo and Drake give their compliments and while he appreciated them he also didn't feel like they compensated for the public embarrassment he just went through.

Lillian stood next to her brother in the back of the courtyard as she watched all the people talk about there powers. "No one has the same ones as us I guess...." She mumbled to her brother, not looking at him as she talked.

Raines sat down, taking a defiant Indian-style arms crossed seating position. Anybody who noticed Robert on his shoulder didn't approach, because Raines looked extremely scary with his current demeanor.
In the lowest voice he could muster, Roger Raines let out a small boost of encouragement. "You showing your power to everybody like that impresses me, Robert." He said, smiling.

Hein slowly walked behind his stepsister Lillian, he wasn't in any real hurry. He had been walking all night, but he assumed that Lillian was far more tired then he was. His gaze fell on the freaks, even though he had strange powers too, to him they were nothing but freaks. "Are you sure we are in the right place?" Hein said placing his arms behind his head as he leaned towards Lillian.

"Im sure of it..." She said looking around at all the people, "And besides how can you call them freaks when we are not exactly normal ourselves. Try to be nice, this will be our home from now on...." She said with a worried expression looking around more, "It will be nice to finally interact with real people" She said turning to her brother smiling sweetly. A small feather fell from her head as she did so.
